  • Katerina Tymoshenko: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, 20 December, 2012. Dissertaion: A General Framework for Exploiting Background Knowledge in Natural Language Processing". Currently post-doc at the IBM Center for Advanced Studies of Trento, Italy.
  • Yashar Mehdad: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, March 23, 2012. Dissertation: "Cross Lingual Textual Entailment and Applications". Currently, he holds a post doctoral position in University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
  • Elena Cabrio: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, April 18, 2011. Dissertation: "Component-based Textual Entailment: a Modular and Linguistically-motivated Framework for Semantic Inferences". Currently, she holds a post doctoral position at INRIA Sophia-Antipolis Méditerranée, France.
  • Silvana Marianela Bernaola Biggio: former PhD student at U. Trento, she left in 2011 to join SKIL (Semantics & Knowledge Innovation Laboratory).
  • Christian Hardmeier: former PhD student at U. Trento, he left in 2011 to start a PhD program at University of Uppsala, Sweden.
  • Daniele Pighin: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, May 26, 2010. Dissertation: "Greedy Feature Selection in Tree Kernel Spaces". After a postdoc at UPC Barcelona he joined Google Inc. in Zurich, Switzerland.
  • Sara Tonelli, Doctorate in Language Sciences, U. Ca' Foscari di Venezia, March 29, 2010. Dissertation: "Semi-automatic Techniques for Extending the FrameNet lexical database to New Languages". Currently, she is a post-doc researcher at FBK.
  • Alessandro Valitutti, degree obtained: Doctorate in Cognitive Science and Education, U. Trento, December 2009. Dissertation: "Computational Production of Affective-Based Verbal Humorous Expressions". Alessandro currently holds a post doctoral position at the Intelligent Virtual Environment laboratory, Teesside University (UK).
  • Bonaventura Coppola: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, April 2009. Dissertation: "Practical Frame Semantics for Natural Language Systems". Bonaventura now works at the Semantic Analysis & Integration department at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, New York.
  • Dino Seppi, degree obtained: Doctorate in Computer Science, U. Bolzano/Bozen, 2008. "Dissertation: Prosody in Automatic Speech Processing". After holding a post doctoral position at FBK-irst, Dino moved to Polderland Language & Speech Technology in Nijmegen (NL), and then to Leuven University, Belgium.
  • Octavian Popescu, degree obtained: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, April 2008. Dissertation: "Ontological Constraints in a Statistical Framework for Person Cross Document Coreference".  He is currently a post-doc at FBK.
  • Matteo Gerosa, degree obtained: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, Mar 2006. Dissertation: "Automatic Speech Recognition for Children". After holding post-doc positions at U. of Southern California and at FBK-irst, Matteo joined in 2010 an innovation lab of FBK.
  • Alfio Gliozzo, degree obtained: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, Dec 2005. Dissertation: "Semantic Domains in Computational Linguistics". After a period at at the Italian National Council of Research (CNR), Rome, he joined IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in New York.
  • Ernesto D'Avanzo, degree obtained: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, Dec 2005. Dissertation: "Using KeyPhrases for Text Mining: Applications and Evaluations". Currently Ernesto is affiliated at the U of Salerno, Department of Communication Sciences.
  • Milen Kouylekov degree obtained: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, Dec 2006. Dissertation: "Recognizing Textual Entailment with Tree Edit Distance: Application to Question Answering and Information Extraction". Now Milen holds a post doctoral position at FBK-irst.
  • Nicola Bertoldi, degree obtained: Doctorate in Mathematics, U. Trento, February 2005. Dissertation: "Statistical Models and Search Algorithms for Machine Translation". Now staff researcher at FBK-irst.
  • Vanessa Sandrini, degree obtained: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, Mar 2005. Dissertation: "Systematic Comparison of Maximum Entropy Models for Tagging Problems". Now at VMEC srl, Verona.
  • Vu Hai Quan, degree obtained: Doctorate in ICT, U. Trento, Mar 2005 Dissertation: "Applications of Word Graphs in Spoken Language Processing". After a post-doc at Katholic University Leuven, he joined University of Science Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He is now associate professor and vice-president for international relationships.
  • Laurens Van der Werff, PhD student candidate, Nov 2004-Apr 2005. After leaving FBK, he joined the PhD program at U. of Twente, Netherlands, where he graduated in 2012.
